North West Discussion Forum (NWDF)

 

The North West Discussion Forum is the longest established regional forum, created in 1997 to promote greater communication, understanding and professionalism between debt advice agencies and creditors in the region. It was the first networking group of its kind, aiming to maximise upon the wealth of representation in the North West area. The first

co-chairs were Bill Williams representing creditors (CCA) and John Fairhurst representing advisers (then CAB).

 

Today the NWDF is the most successful group with around 50 members regularly attending, meeting quarterly in and around the North West area. It supports fully aims the of the Money Advice Liaison Group – To improve working relationships between creditors, their ancillary services and advisers by following the 4 main objectives as listed on the main MALG website.

 

Co-chaired by Miriam Scott of Robinson Way and Dave Brakes of Stockport Debt Advice, supported tirelessly by Forum Secretary Karen Bridson of Grant Thornton and Treasurer Richard Holland of Salford City Council

 

During 2011 the NWDF have held meetings in Manchester, Chester and Liverpool where topics such as Debt Management Companies - compilance and practice, Pay Day loans and Insolvency update were discussed.

 

 

Meetings for 2012 are scheduled as follows:

  • 21st February
  • 23rd May
  • 20th September
  • 4th December
