South East Discussion Forum (SEDF)
The aims of the South East Discussion Forum (SEDF) are consistent with the objectives
of the Money Advice Liaison Group, which are to improve working relationships between
creditors, their ancillary services and advisers by:
- Facilitating and promoting a non-policy making discussion forum
- Promoting better communication, best practice, understanding and professionalism
on the part of individuals and organisations concerned with consumer credit and personal
debt, money/debt advice, debt collection and related ancillary matters
- Organising and administering regular meetings and workshops of the forum and the
provision of information to members
- Assisting with the resolution of differences that occur from time to time, through
networking, whether they are individual cases experienced by either creditors or
advisers, or more general differences of opinions.
The SEDF meets three times a year, in Central London and elsewhere in the South East,
and draws members from the credit and debt collecting sectors, utility companies,
government bodies and the advice sector. Individual attendees come from a healthy
mix of national and more local organisations.
Some of the topics that the SEDF has addressed within the last twelve months include:
- Death andDebt
- The CCCS & Citizens Advice Debt Management Plan Partnership pilot
- The rold of a Credit Reference Agency
- The role of the Money Advice Service
- An update from the Credit Services Association & Debt Buyers & Sellers Group
During 2012, the SEDF will meet on the following dates:
- 16th March
- 20th July
- 24th October
